Bezos’ two waterfront homes feature a total of 10 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and two swimming pools. The 2.8-acre (1.1 hectare) three-bedroom property, built in 1965, was previously owned by MTM Star International, a company with ties to Panama. Public records show the sale took place in June, but the identity of the final buyer was undisclosed.

Representatives for Bezos did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours. Laying the groundwork for the land rush was the New York-born “Father of Miami” Henry Flagler, a founder of Standard Oil, whose completion of the Florida East Coast Railway in 1896 opened southeast Florida to tourists for the first time. It boasts a pool, theater, library, a wine cellar, maids’ quarters, a sauna, and six garage spaces, according to the Zillow listing.

"Anna Wintour is personally helping Sánchez with selecting her dress," an insider told O'Dell, adding that "she was choosing between custom looks by Oscar de la Renta and two other designers." A representative of Hilton & Hyland, the brokerage firm that represented the Chartwell Estate before the sale, did not respond to Business Insider's request for comment on Bezos's tour. Bezos and Sanchez's house-hunting was a hot topic among high-end Los Angeles real-estate brokers, The New York Post's Josh Kosman and Jennifer Gould Keil reported February 2. From Hollywood celebrities, to billionaires, to key political allies, the guest list was exclusive. The waterfront property was listed for $85 million in May and last sold for $28 million in 2014. The New York property is the first major investment Bezos has made since his 2019 divorce.

There are also Brazilian teak docks where 100-plus-foot luxury vessels are moored — perfect for his $500 million superyacht Koru, which features a helicopter landing pad, swimming pool, and a mermaid resembling Sanchez adorning the prow. Indian Creek boasts about 40 waterfront properties all facing the water, along with an 18-hole golf course stretched across 294 acres. Bezos reportedly has plans to bulldoze the $68 million pad and build a palatial megamansion.

Three years after buying The Washington Post in 2013, Bezos bought a former textile museum in DC's Kalorama.

The home, which is located in Miami's Billionaire Bunker, was built in 1965 and expanded in 1985 and features 9,300 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms on a 2.8-acre lot. Bezos has amassed multiple homes in recent years, including in Washington, D.C., a nine-acre Beverly Hills mansion he bought for $165 million in 2020 and an estate in Maui. He owns properties in Manhattan and Seattle as well as a 300,000 acre ranch in Texas, where the launch site to Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket is based. Bezos’s latest property acquisitions are located next to the homes of Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner as well as the famed NFL quarterback Tom Brady.

How many homes are in Indian Creek Village aka Billionaire’s Bunker?

This month, President Biden threw one of the most lavish state dinners in Washington’s recent memory. Celebrities and billionaires flocked to the White House to dine in honor of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida of Japan, posing for photos in front of an elaborate display of Japanese fans. Earlier this month, Bezos purchased a home for approximately $90 million in Indian Creek Village, Miami— colloquially known as Billionaire Bunker. Intriguingly, Sanchez is now one of the highest-profile Latinas in the country, a demographic that Democrats are concerned has been drifting towards the Republicans. The source told Page Six of the invite, “If Bezos is not already supporting one of the super PACS it’s a strong indication that he’s being courted to support one of the super PACS.

That lot has a 24,000-square-foot Tudor-style, six-bedroom, six-bathroom mansion and had a listing price of $53 million. On Tuesday, Bezos made his third purchase on the island known as the "billionaire bunker," Bloomberg reported. The announcement comes roughly a month after the e-commerce executive purchased a $79 million spread on South Florida’s Indian Creek Island — a seven-bedroom, 14-bathroom property spread across 19,064 square feet. His latest property purchase adds to his extensive real-estate portfolio that includes two neighboring Beverly Hills mansions and a huge ranch in Texas, Insider's Sarah Jackson and Jordan Hart reported in August. Bezos’ newest $90 million home is a 6-bedroom, 9-bath estate that, like all other Indian Creek mansions, sits on the Biscayne Bay waterfront. It’s on the opposite side of the island from the two homes Bezos purchased in 2023.

Further south in Beverly Hills, Bezos purchased a $165 million mansion from billionaire producer David Geffen in a record-shattering deal just before the pandemic. He scored a 7.1% discount from the property’s May listing price of $85 million, according to Bloomberg, which first reported on the sale, citing people familiar with the matter. People representing Bezos reportedly contacted at least three other island homeowners to discuss purchasing their properties, Bloomberg reported in early January. The Obamas purchased an $8.1 million property nearby in 2017, which marked the second-most expensive transaction in the neighborhood — after Bezos' — The Washington Post reported.

Investor and hedge fund manager Lampert has garnered a controversial reputation over the past decade. He took over as CEO of floundering retail giant Sears Holdings in 2013, hoping to turn it around, but failed miserably. Lampert bought his home on Indian Creek for $38.4 million in 2012, switching his primary residence from Greenwich, Connecticut, to Florida.

With a $163 billion fortune, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bezos would instantly become Indian Creek’s richest inhabitant. The island has just about 40 residences, a country club and its own police department. While Bezos's real estate moves are out of reach for most people, getting into the real estate industry doesn't require millions. There were 41 waterfront properties on the island as of 2017, according to the municipality's website. The mansion Bezos purchased is reported to have been owned by Javier Holtz, who is listed as the vice-mayor of the municipality on its website.

It wasn’t immediately clear if he also has plans to tear down his latest eight-figure enclave. Bezos bought the seven-bedroom Indian Creek mansion for $79 million in October, Bloomberg reported, citing unnamed sources. Their notable island neighbors include fellow billionaires Oprah Winfrey, Paul Thiel, and Oracle executive Larry Ellison, according to the Times. Sanchez announced that she and Bezos would donate $100 million to help Maui after neighborhoods on the island were devastated by fires.

Either way, the 33-story, dual-tower structure was built in 1932 by Irwin Chanin, who was known for Broadway theater designs. The building, complete with Art Deco exterior and lobby, holds over 400 unique condominiums, according to StreetEasy. However, an insider told The Post Bezos does not own any of these properties. The 54-year-old New Mexico native has been wearing bold looks on red carpets since the start of her career. But in recent years — especially while making her relationship with Jeff Bezos public — her style has leveled up.

The property features a gated semi-circular drive and a picturesque swimming pool set into a terrace shaded by mature trees. Over the summer, the 59-year-old Bezos paid $68 million for a three-bedroom, waterfront home in Indian Creek Village, Fortune magazine and Bloomberg reported in August. MTM Star International was listed on Miami-Dade property records as the previous owner of the home, and, at the time, the county website did not list Bezos as the owner, but it did show the property sold in June, according to AP. Several months later, in July, Bezos built upon his Beverly Hills holdings by purchasing the property adjacent to Geffen’s estate for $10 million, a considerably more humble abode that is still nonetheless luxurious by the average person’s standards. Measuring 4,615 square feet, the two-story traditional home features three bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, with much of the interiors upgraded by the seller. French doors, six brick fireplaces, crown molding, and dark hardwood floors give the property a good amount of historic prestige, while an outdoor brick courtyard and vegetable and rose gardens complete the grounds’ offerings.
